Welcome Back

By leapingcat

Well, the rest of my life has pushed this blog into the background for longer than planned, but I’m back here and hope to continue with more comments on the internet auction scene.

Since my last post, there have been some major changes proposed at eBay, mainly to the feedback system and to fees. The inability of sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers may well cause problems for some sellers, but the fee hike is a worse problem. It was announced in a very misleading way, for most sellers, large or small fees will rise in spite of eBay saying there would be a cut.

All of this must be a bonus for the alternatives. I had been concentrating on Ebay to reduce my collection of books, which had already taken over part of the garage as well as my bookshelves, as the selling rate is higher there. But now I’m taking another look at alternatives and have started to list again on Tazbar and Specialistauctions; Tazbar seeming to be about to take off again with one of the founders, Lee Markham, back at the helm.

I’ve also started to visit pheebay again; in my opinion the site for well-informed good-natured discussion of the auction scene.
